After learning that you are pregnant, you may want to have an ultrasound. An ultrasound is a safe diagnostic technique that uses sound waves. It is used to reveal more details about your pregnancy, including how far along you may be. It can also verify that your pregnancy is located in the uterus, where it should be. Conversely, early detection of an ectopic pregnancy is of critical importance. Lifeline provides limited obstetrical ultrasounds at no cost.
At Lifeline, a registered nurse will perform the scan. A friend or family member may sit in with you if you prefer. The nurse will measure the heartbeat and the size of the baby to determine the stage of pregnancy you are in. We can take photos from the scan to take home with you. Your ultrasound results will be reviewed by Lifeline’s Medical Director, a practicing OB/GYN doctor. We will then contact you to share their remarks with you.
At the end of the ultrasound, we will be available to address any questions or concerns. Our nurse will offer to take you (and your partner if you wish so) to a private and confidential room to discuss your options. Our goal is for you to make decisions with confidence and free of fear. You will also be able to sign up for our customized PLANS (parenting lessons and nurturing supplies program, our fatherhood mentoring program, or any of our other medical or support services. Finally, you will be welcome to come back for a second limited ultrasound in the following weeks.
Lifeline does not provide or refer for abortions.
